Piet Kolderman

Piet started playing fiddle at the age of 14. He studied western classical music. He wanted to also play other styles and learned to improvise at various workshops. For a while he (like Ron) also played bass guitar in a rock band. During his time as bass player he kept practicing on the fiddle, playing along to records and radio programs such as “Folk Live”.

Piet, along with Theo, also played in the Dutch folk band Emerald. He also played as guest musician in the 4 piece tango band Coincidencia.

He has now been a long standing member of Coracle. His fiddle playing is a lovely harmony to Jim’s voice, especially in the ballads.

Outside of Coracle Piet plays for a Dutch traditional dance group and plays in De Baviaen van Schurhoff. He also plays with The Silo Drifters.

Piet is just at home playing Finnish and Swedish music as he is playing Irish music.
